Adult learners in a discussion around a table in a British English school seminar room

About Britannia English Courses

An adult English school based in the UK

We teach English to adults in the United Kingdom, with General, Intensive, Work and Academic programmes organised around CEFR levels — so you can see where you are and what comes next.

Who we teach

Our classes are adult-focused. Learners arrive from UK workplaces, from family life, and from overseas with a university or exam goal in mind. Some are returning to English after years away; others use it daily and want accuracy or range.

UK workplaces

People who use English in meetings and writing every week, and want fewer mistakes and a wider range of expression.

Settled in the UK

Learners building confidence for appointments, schools, neighbours and everyday conversation, away from a classroom years ago.

Study and exams

Adults preparing for university study or an English exam, who need a clear level target rather than open-ended lessons.

That mix shapes how lessons run. Adults bring real contexts to the room, and we use them. A discussion about a work problem teaches more English than a scripted dialogue on the same topic, and correction lands better when it answers something you actually said.

How courses are designed

Every course maps to CEFR levels and covers speaking, listening, reading and writing together. Grammar is not a separate subject with its own lessons — it appears where it is needed to do something useful.

Four skills, one course

Speaking, listening, reading and writing run together through the term, so no single skill is left to practise alone at home.

Outlines in advance

Course outlines set out the term's topics and target language before you start, so you know what you are working towards.

Pace that adjusts

Teachers adjust pace within the plan when a group needs more time on a point — the outline stays, the speed changes.

Why groups stay small

Small groups mean more turns to speak and more correction. That is the whole reason. In a large room it is easy to sit through a lesson without producing much English, and adults paying for classes should not be doing that.

The trade-off is fixed start dates and classes that fill. When a group is full we offer the next intake rather than enlarge it — so the room stays a room you have to speak in.

Teaching approach

Lessons are practical and task-based. You practise the English needed for meetings, appointments, writing and conversation, with correction on pronunciation and word choice as you go. Homework is set from week one and reviewed in class.

We are direct with learners about level. If you are not ready for a course, you will hear it, along with what to do first — whether that is a lower group, a reading habit, or a few weeks on speaking before an exam class.

Tasks, not theory

You use the language in the room: booking an appointment, handling a complaint, writing a short report.

Correction as you go

Pronunciation and word choice get fixed in the moment, so mistakes do not settle into habit.

Homework from week one

Weekly tasks are reviewed in class, so the work feeds the next lesson instead of sitting in a folder.

UK location and local support

The school operates from the United Kingdom, and our support reflects that: UK office hours, UK contact numbers, and schedules built around UK course terms. Learners in the UK can call or email and get a reply from someone in the same time zone.

For international learners, the same team answers questions about levels, formats and preparation before you commit to anything.

Accreditation, and how to check it

Accreditation in UK English language teaching is a real question and worth asking any school directly. Schemes exist for accredited centres, and directories such as the English UK course finder let you search member institutions by location and course type. We encourage you to check accreditation claims with the accrediting body rather than take them on trust — do the same with any school you are comparing.

What we do claim

Courses built around CEFR levels, small adult groups, a written outline for the term, correction on pronunciation and word choice, and a UK-based team you can call or email during office hours.

What we do not claim

We do not promise exam results, university admission, visas or job outcomes. We teach English and prepare learners for the next step; the outcome depends on your level, your work and decisions made by other institutions.

How we write about ourselves

We do not publish invented statistics or borrowed reviews. When we describe our courses, we describe what happens in the classroom.

How to check a school

Ask which body accredits the centre, then confirm it with that body directly. Ask what a typical week contains and how many hours are taught rather than studied alone.

Fees, and what they include

Fees depend on format, weekly hours and course length, and separate enrolment and materials charges may apply. We send current details for your level and chosen format when you enquire, so you can compare options with real numbers. If you are weighing a longer General English course against a short intensive block, ask us to put both side by side.

How to get started

Register your interest with your name, surname, email and phone number. Tell us your goal and your available hours, and we will confirm your level and suggest a course. Nothing is charged at this stage.

Registration and level checks are handled by our London team on +44 20 7920 5884 or info@dietcon.digital.
